Wednesday’s weather: the Cape shivers while Gauteng basks

Limpopo stays partly cloudy and warm to hot.
North West stays fine, windy and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.
The Free State stays fine and warm, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. It will be windy in the north-east.
The Northern Cape stays fine and warm in the north.
Otherwise, it turns cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated showers and rain over the southern parts.
A very cold, wet and windy advisory covers southern Namakwa from today until Friday.
WHY THE CAPE CARRIES THE HEAVIEST WARNING TODAY
The Western Cape turns cloudy and cool to cold, but very cold over the central mountainous areas.
Isolated showers and rain are scattered along the south-west and south coast, clearing in the west from the afternoon.
A very cold, wet and windy advisory covers the Cape Winelands, Central Karoo and Little Karoo Districts, lasting until Friday.
The western half of the Eastern Cape turns cloudy and cold, with widespread showers and rain, but scattered to isolated in the north-east.
The eastern half stays partly cloudy and cool, but cold in the south-west.
It turns cloudy with scattered showers and rain south of the escarpment, otherwise isolated but widespread in the south-west from the afternoon.
No rain is expected over the Walter Sisulu and Senqu local municipalities in the extreme north-west.
KwaZulu-Natal stays partly cloudy and cool to warm, but hot in places in the north-east. It turns cloudy in the evening, with isolated showers and rain, except in the extreme north-west.

It’s a quieter SAWS warnings day compared to earlier in the week, with the Cape’s cold, wet and windy spell the main system to watch until Friday.
It’s worth keeping warm layers handy if you’re anywhere near the Cape mountains or southern coast over the next few days.
