MACC to issue asset declaration notices to Saravanan, his wife and three children

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 25 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will issue notices to former human resources minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan, his wife, and their three children to declare their assets within a month.

Its chief commissioner, Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, said that the asset declaration notice under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009 will be delivered on Monday to Saravanan, his wife, and their two children, while another child who is still abroad will receive it in November.

“They have been informed and will attend the MACC headquarters for the delivery of the notices.

“A period of 30 days (for asset declaration) is given, and if that period is insufficient, an extension will be granted if they apply,” he said at a press conference after the closing ceremony of the 5th National Level Research Conference on Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption 2026, here today.

Saravanan was previously charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with three counts of receiving bribes amounting to nearly RM1.09 million related to the approval of 1,000 foreign worker quotas for a company, four years ago.

In another development, Abd Halim said his side has not yet received the asset declaration from the former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, and his family.

“We just submitted the notices on Sept 15. Wait for a month,” he said.

The MACC served asset declaration notices on Abdul Azeez and his family under Section 49 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001. — Bernama
