REVEALED: ‘Nasreddine Nabi wasn’t sacked by Kaizer Chiefs’

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs did NOT sack Nasreddine Nabi despite his abrupt departure in September 2025, his former assistant has revealed.

According to Khalil Ben Youssef, it is actually Nabi who requested to leave the club after what he describes as ‘a misunderstanding’ between the coach and the board.

Nabi had just delivered the Nedbank Cup title to Naturena, ending a 10-year trophy drought which had hit Chiefs.

He left just six games into the 2025-26 season, and both Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze stepped in as Amakhosi co-coaches.

At the time, media reports suggested that Chiefs had parted ways with Nabi because of his expired CAF-mandated interclub credentials.

If that was indeed the case, that would have prohibited Nabi from sitting on the bench for Chiefs’ CAF Confederation Cup matches.

REVEALED: NABI WASN’T SACKED, HE WANTED TO LEAVE KAIZER CHIEFS

“The situation… it was a misunderstanding between Nabi and the board,” Ben Youssef said on SuperSportTV’s Giants as per KickOff.

“It was his decision [to leave]. He said ‘I want to go, I don’t want to stay.’ Inside [the club] everyone knows what the story is and what the reality is.

“Because at the end of the day, you came here for a job, to suceed. You don’t come to make problems and make stories.”
