‘Sweet Magnolias,' the official series, was cancelled by the production company just after the fifth season. The show centred on three friends living in the quaint Southern town of Serenity, South Carolina.

The series is based on author Sherryl Woods’ bestselling book series of the same name; however, the show recently confirmed in an official statement that they are officially cancelling it.

The official statement shared online revealed that the OTT series was officially cancelled after the fifth season, which aired about three months ago. Joanna Garcia Fisher and Sheryl J. Anderson, who are going to be working together to adapt ‘Ladies of the House,' reacted to the news of the show getting cancelled.

Joanna wrote in her Instagram post, “How do you say goodbye to something that became so much more than a job? Seven years.

Five seasons. A million tiny moments that somehow became a whole life. Sweet Magnolias came into my world during a chapter that held some of my deepest loss and, somehow, some of my greatest joy.”

She continued, “In a time when I wasn’t always sure how to keep moving forward, Serenity gave me somewhere to go.

These people gave me somewhere to belong. They made me laugh when I was sure I had forgotten how. They let me be sad when I needed to be. They showed up. Again and again and again, and maybe that’s what I will carry with me most.”Jamie Lynn Spears, who played the role of Noreen on the show, also opened up about ‘Sweet Magnolias’ getting cancelled. Her online post read, “I can’t put into words how much the people who make up our Sweet Mags family mean to me, and that’s not just the producers, cast, crew, & @Netflix who are like actual family at this point, but also each of you who watched and became a part of our family as well.

It’s so rare to have 5 seasons straight be #1 around the whole world in a business where getting a 2nd season of anything is almost impossible these days.

I owe it all to each and every person who loved Serenity and the people who made it what it was.”On September 19, Chris Medlin also posted online, sharing, “The people, the people, the people! That’s what will always make Sweet Magnolias so special,” Medlin, who played Isaac on the hit dramedy, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, September 19.

“Thank you to this team of creators, our showrunner, writers, and producers over at Netflix for trusting me with this adventure.”

Logan Allen also shared in a post, “Sweet Magnolias has truly changed my life. Not only has this show grown me as an actor, but also as a young man. The friendships I’ve made will last forever.
