KUALA LUMPUR: An old video of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his late wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, has resurfaced on social media.

In the clip, shared on Threads, the host asks the couple a series of lighthearted questions.

When asked about the craziest or silliest thing he had ever done, Dr Mahathir replied: "Marrying me."

The quip drew a laugh from Dr Siti Hasmah, who was seated beside him.

Dr Mahathir went on to say that the best part about his wife was her understanding and patience throughout their decades together.

"She doesn't disturb me because I am always going out, always working, and don't spend enough time with the family or kids.

"But there are no complaints," he said.

Near the end of the video, Dr Siti Hasmah playfully kissed Dr Mahathir on the cheek, drawing smiles from the host and audience.

Netizens flooded the post with tributes to the couple's love story.

"Dr Siti Hasmah is truly an exemplary wife who stayed loyal through every phase of life," one wrote.

"May we all learn from their relationship and love like them until old age," another said.

Dr Siti Hasmah died at the National Heart Institute this morning at the age of 100.

Dr Siti Hasmah and Dr Mahathir, who were married for 70 years and had seven children, marked their 70th wedding anniversary on Aug 5.
