Outer Banks has come to an end after five seasons, but does the Blue Crown succeed in bringing JJ back to life? Find out below.

Created by Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke, the Netflix teen adventure series debuted in 2020 and follows a close-knit group of friends known as the Pogues as they hunt for lost treasure around North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

The ten-episode final season picks up after JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow) was murdered by his biological father Chadler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), who escaped with the legendary Blue Crown.

All five seasons of the show are available to stream on Netflix now. Check out the trailer for the final season here:

No, the Blue Crown does not resurrect JJ.

The Pogues recover the crown in Croatia, where Kiara recites a prayer and begs for JJ to return. Although she sees shooting stars in the sky, he does not return; instead, Kiara experiences memories from their relationship and learns that the crown has given her the closure she needs to accept his death.

Back in the Outer Banks, Kiara confronts Groff after discovering he has stolen the Royal Merchant gold. After they fight, he is left hanging from a broken mast above the sea and Kiara cuts the rope, allowing him to fall to his death, avenging JJ.

John B later recovers the sunken gold, allowing the Pogues to buy back their land and rebuild their community. Pope proposes to Cleo, while Kiara beings a marine biology internship and dedicates a beach bench to JJ. Rafe confesses to killing Sheriff Peterkin and leaves the island with Sofia.

One year later, John B and Sarah marry at their rebuilt family home and they reveal that their newborn son is named JJ, as the Pogues gather for one final photograph.
