Translate

A foreign national claimed trial at the magistrates’ court here today to driving under the influence and injuring a police escort last Saturday.

Wei Fu Chun, from Taiwan, was charged under Section 44(1A)(a) of the Road Transport Act with injuring police officer Ramli Sapari after driving under the influence of drugs along Jalan Tun Sambanthan.

Ramli had earlier escorted Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir in the city centre.

If convicted, Wei, 52, faces a jail term of between seven and 10 years and a fine of between RM30,000 and RM50,000.

Magistrate Aliaa Anwar denied Wei bail and fixed Jan 6, 2027 for case management.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurbatrisyia Razib appeared for the prosecution while Wei was represented by Thayalan Moorthy.
