SINGAPORE, Nov 4 — The 25-year-old female driver, Mira, who survived the fatal Tampines accident involving two cars and a motorcycle on October 29, did not suffer any serious physical injuries, but is seeking psychiatric treatment for the trauma, said Minister of State Baey Yam Keng.

Baey, who is also Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC, provided the update in a Facebook post yesterday, after visiting her.

He also revealed that the car driven by Mira belonged to her father, adding that it was badly damaged and had to be scrapped.

According to Baey, this is affecting his work as he needs the car to drive to Jurong Island.

“We discussed the help they needed, including legal advice and insurance claims. Hopefully our referrals would accord them the necessary assistance soon,” he said.

The minister of state for transport also asked to meet up with the relevant agencies to discuss if there are any measures that could be implemented along Tampines Avenue 12 to prevent such accidents from happening again.

Muhammad Zulfiqar Abdul Aziz, 30, was behind the wheel of deregistered car with a cloned number plate when he allegedly caused the fatal accident on Tampines Avenue 12 on October 29.

After the accident, Zulfiqar fled the scene along with his female passenger. They were both arrested on October 30.

Court documents show that the 30-year-old is under a disqualification order from March 2026 to March 2032.

On October 31, he was handed nine charges for traffic offences including dangerous driving causing hurt and failing to stop after an accident.

Zulfiqar had allegedly failed to keep proper control of his vehicle during a left bend, causing the vehicle to continue straight into the centre divider, breach the metal railings and enter the opposite lane of traffic.

His vehicle hit a motorcycle and a car travelling straight. The motorcyclist and his wife riding pillion were flung off the bike. They suffered serious injuries and died in hospital.
