Karen Batu, the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Records Division of the Office of the Ombudsman, testified for the first time on Tuesday in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
House Prosecutor James Bryan Ibrahim Alih said that Batu has been serving as OIC since December 2025.
“The Central Records Division is the frontline service of the Office of the Ombudsman in charge of the case records management, which includes receiving, releasing, restoring, and eventual disposing of these documents such as complaints, pleadings, SALNs, and letters,” Batu said.
According to Batu, she first served a graft prevention and control officer with the Public Assistance and Corruption Prevention Office in 2010.
After passing the Bar Examinations in 2014, she was promoted to graft investigation officer I and was assigned at the Ombudsman Proper.
In 2025, Batu said she was promoted to graft investigation and prosecution officer III.
