Foo Fighters to open for AC/DC again at rescheduled New Jersey show – less than a month after “one night only” support slot
Foo Fighters are set to open for AC/DC for a second time at a rescheduled New Jersey show – less than a month after doing so for “one night only”.
The Aussie rock legends had originally been due to bring their ongoing ‘Power Up’ tour to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford last Friday (September 25), but the show was postponed due to the severe weather affecting the US East Coast.
It has now been rescheduled for this Friday (October 2), with all tickets for the original date remaining valid – and Foo Fighters have confirmed they will be joining the band as support.
“Let there be rock,” Dave Grohl and co. wrote on Instagram today (September 29). “See you October 2nd with @acdc!!!”

The booking comes just three-and-a-half weeks after Foo Fighters stepped in to open for AC/DC in St. Louis on September 8.
That rare support appearance had explicitly been announced as a “one night only” detour from Foo Fighters’ own touring schedule, after The Pretty Reckless were unable to play the show.
Ahead of the gig, Grohl described sharing a stage with AC/DC as “literally a dream come true”, explaining that watching the band’s 1980 concert film Let There Be Rock at the age of 11 had transformed the way he thought about playing live.
“All I have ever wanted was to someday live up to the awe inspiring fury of AC/DC, live on stage,” he said. “And now, for the first time since that fateful night in 1980, my band Foo Fighters will share a stage with the gentlemen who are single handedly responsible for my determination to give every audience everything I have, every night.”
At the St. Louis show, the Foos delivered a 10-song greatest-hits set including ‘All My Life’, ‘The Pretender’, ‘Times Like These’, ‘My Hero’, ‘Monkey Wrench’ and ‘Best Of You’.
Before closing with ‘Everlong’, Grohl reflected on ticking the support slot off his “bucket list” – and inadvertently left the door open to precisely what has now happened.
“We never say goodbye, because we always come back,” he told the crowd. “I don’t know if we’ll ever open for AC/DC again, although honestly I think it’d be a great fucking tour.”
He also joked that, despite enjoying the Foo Fighters set, he was even more excited “to get off this stage and fucking watch AC/DC for the next couple hours”.
Remaining tickets for the rescheduled New Jersey show are on sale now here, while existing September 25 tickets will automatically be honoured on the new date.
Foo Fighters, meanwhile, are currently touring behind their 12th album ‘Your Favorite Toy’, which arrived in April.
Their North American ‘Take Cover’ run has seen them joined by Queens Of The Stone Age, with NME reviewing its opening night in Toronto.
In June, the Foos also played two huge shows at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium. In NME’s four-star review of the first night, Andrew Trendell wrote: “The laid-back rock club vibe is what makes this work. Foos don’t have the bells, whistles, pyro, or blockbuster special effects of other standard stadium acts, just tunes and banter.”
