Man, 66, found dead in bathroom after Kota Bharu house fire

KOTA BHARU, Sept 11 — A 66-year-old man was found burnt to death after the two-storey house he was living in at the Pasar Gok Kapor area near Jalan Pantai Cahaya Bulan here caught fire last night.
Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohd Ridzuan Baharudin said the victim, Kang Choo Hock, was found in the bathroom at 9.37pm and was confirmed dead at the scene.
He said they received an emergency call through NG999 at 8.43pm before fire engines arrived at the scene, about five kilometres from the Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Station, at 8.52pm.
“About 95 per cent of the house structure was destroyed in the fire. The blaze was brought under control at 9.24pm, and the team is still carrying out further operations,” he said when contacted.
He added that the operation involved 35 personnel from the Kota Bharu, Kota Darul Naim and Pengkalan Chepa Fire and Rescue stations, as well as three Fire and Rescue Tender vehicles and a water tanker. — Bernama
