4 Serie A players called up to Switzerland squad including Inter and Milan stars

Four Serie A players have been called up to the Switzerland national team squad ahead of the September-October international break, including Inter defender Manuel Akanji, Milan midfielder Ardon Jashari and two defenders from Torino.
Switzerland will be in Nations League action against North Macedonia on September 26, against Scotland on September 29, Slovenia on October 3 and North Macedonia again on October 6.
Unlike some European head coaches, who have taken extra-large squads for the bumper international break, Murat Yakin has called up just 25 players, fewer than the 26 that teams are allowed to select at the World Cup. For comparison, Jurgen Klopp has named 44 players in his first Germany squad, reports in France claim that Zinedine Zidane could call up to 50 and reports in Italy suggest that Roberto Mancini will summon at least 30 players.
Inter and Milan have one representative each in the Switzerland national team squad in the form of Nerazzurri centre-back Akanji, who has 87 caps to his name, and Rossoneri midfielder Jashari.
Torino also have two players in the Switzerland squad with summer signings Eray Cömert and Ricardo Rodriguez, who returned to the Granata for his second spell earlier this month. Rodriguez’s 144 caps has him second in Switzerland’s list of all time appearance makers, only behind captain Granit Xhaka on 152.
Zachary Athekame, currently on loan with Lyon from Milan, has also been called up.
There will be a few more familiar Serie A names in the Switzerland squad, including former Bologna trio Remo Freuler, Michel Aebischer and Dan Ndoye and ex-Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria.

Midfielders: Michel Aebischer, Remo Freuler, Ardon Jashari, Johan Manzambi, Fabian Rieder, Djibril Sow, Granit Xhaka, Denis Zakaria.
Forwards: Zeki Amdouni, Winsley Boteli, Breel Embolo, Cedric Itten, Dan Ndoye, Alvyn Sanches.
