The livestreamed "Lollipop Chainsaw New Project" presentation at Tokyo Game Show (TGS) announced on Saturday that the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise is being adapted into a film. Ambitious Entertainment producer Kirk Shaw (The Hurt Locker associate producer) and ZDF Studios' former vice president of drama Robert Franke (Concordia, Benidorm Is Murder) are producing, and they expressed their intent to make a "Hollywood" film for worldwide audiences. Nada Holdings founder Joe Teng described the film as live-action and indicated that it is separate from the previously announced anime plans.

Update: Deadline reported that in addition to Shaw, Franke, and Teng, Throne Inc. managing director Takafumi Yūki (As One) and Non Stop TV president Patricio Rabuffetti are also producing the project.

Nada Holdings and Dragami Games announced earlier at TGS that they will launch the new game Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back for the PlayStation 5 in 2027. Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata is directing the game, with his JP Universe company developing. Original Lollipop Chainsaw writer Masahiro Yuki is writing the game's story, and the original game's character designer NekoshowguN is also involved with the new game.

Taiwan's Nada Holdings had announced in July 2025 that its new projects for the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise in partnership with Dragami Games will involve a new game and an anime adaptation. Nada Holdings had noted that the new game will not impose "excessive creative restrictions in the name of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)," but does not specify how exactly it will do this.

The Lollipop Chainsaw hack-and-slash zombie game launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 worldwide in June 2012. Grasshopper Manufacture developed the game, and Kadokawa Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published the game. The game was a collaboration between Gōichi Suda (Suda51) and filmmaker James Gunn.

Former CEO of Kadokawa Games and current CEO of Dragami Games Yoshimi Yasuda posted a message on X/Twitter in English and Japanese in July 2022 that his company purchased the IP from Kadokawa Games after the status of the game was in limbo. He added Warner Bros. is supporting Dragami Games in this endeavor.

Kadokawa Games divested part of its business to the new company Dragami Games in May 2022. Kadokawa Games' president and CEO Yasuda and company director Satoshi Fuyuno established Dragami Games in May 2022.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the remaster of the original game, launched digitally in the Americas and Europe for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam in September 2024. The Switch 2 version debuted on May 28 earlier this year.
