Translate

NARATHIWAT — 1 Oct 2026, Police in Narathiwat province have seized an M16 rifle, shotguns, handguns, grenades and ammunition from a suspected weapons cache in Yi-ngo district.

Provincial Police Commander Maj. Gen. Prayong Kotsakha said the raid followed an intelligence-led investigation into a house in Lubo Baya subdistrict believed to be used to store illegal weapons.

Police seized:

  • One M16 rifle
  • Three shotguns
  • One 9mm pistol
  • One .38-calibre revolver
  • One M67 fragmentation grenade
  • One unspecified grenade
  • Ammunition and magazines: 66 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 33 12-gauge shotgun shells, two M16 magazines and two 9mm magazines

Forensic officers are examining the weapons’ serial numbers and collecting DNA and latent fingerprints. The firearms will also be tested to determine whether they were used in security-related attacks or could be linked to unresolved cases in the southern border provinces.

Police said they suspected the weapons may have been intended for use in a major incident in Narathiwat.
