Naruto Creates New Meme Hero To Outlast The Series' Strongest Villain Alive

Defeating those bearing the power of the Ten-Tails is no mean feat even for Kage-level shinobi, and in the Naruto franchise, the most persistent threat bearing these traits is Jura and the Human Divine Trees. Jura in particular has easily claimed the mantle of strongest living villain at large in the Boruto manga sequel, handily outclassing other top contender Code, even taking one of his hands in the process. His mere presence on the battlefield poses grave danger to Boruto and his friends, with Jura fully capable of dealing lethal blows to his enemies without much of a thought, all while avoiding even the most powerful attacks hitting him head-on.
After a month's delay, with Sarada Uchiha deep in the Divine Trees' lair and hoping Code and Hidari will weaken each other enough for her to finish them off, the last thing Sarada needs is Jura to show up. But, as it turns out, there's an opportunity to keep Jura occupied as one minor character, Furuta, may emerge as the latest and unlikeliest of heroes as he helps pull off a diversion at the behest of Shikamaru Nara. The best part is, if Furuta delays Jura for the full duration of the next chapter and into #39 from there, he'd have the potential to outlast all shinobi who'd kept him at bay in previous arcs, marking a brand-new meme hero to emerge shortly after Nishi's latest return.
Naruto May Have A New Meme Hero To Exploit Its Strongest Villain's Weakness
Jura has been shown virtually since his chapter 4 debut in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex to have a tendency to not wish significant damage to Konoha or its many shops. Early examples include chapter 8 in which he urges Kawaki not to fight his allies in front of a rare book shop. In fact, for the Mamushi Arc, Shikamaru confirmed to Inojin that Jura has taken a liking to the village, and that he will actively not participate in any fights where Konoha may take collateral damage. This presents a rare opportunity for a regular civilian to shine, and fans quickly took notice.
Truly substantial one-on-one fights against Jura hardly ever last a full chapter, let alone two or more. Not even Boruto and Kawaki's tag-team case in chapters 22-24 had either character lasting longer than two consecutive chapters. Furuta thus has a rare opportunity to survive unscathed whereas other shinobi have had limbs broken, been shot by mini Biju Ball sniper shots, or generally clobbered. None of these will happen to Furuta in this encounter, yet he still holds everyone's fate in his hands.

So with Sarada planning to pit Code against Hidari and finishing off either survivor, the ball is in Furuta's court to keep Jura occupied long enough in his rare book store. As long as Jura is there, he'll inflict no harm on anyone in the surrounding area. Furuta is even surprisingly amicable with the Divine Tree, calling him the new #1 customer, while ringing up every book he has on cats. It turns out this is the safest location for the shopkeeper and for Jura to be, in the interest of preventing horrible loss.
The unusual nature of this mission is almost comically laid out by Shikamaru through Inojin's Mind Body Transmission Formation jutsu, asking Furuta to keep Jura occupied for as long as possible in a diversion mission, with the fate of mankind in the balance. The dire urgency of this task juxtaposed against a sweet old store owner may not be an accident, either. In August 2026's edition of V Jump, Ikemoto confirmed that middle-aged and elderly characters are the easiest for him to draw, so Furuta's conversation with Jura could be the breeziest, potentially most fun and unpredictable component to the next several chapters, especially with how Furuta could occupy him.
Talk No Jutsu Could Indirectly Kill Off Two Powerful Boruto Villains
Furuta's given little to work with in terms of conversation pieces by Shikamaru to keep Jura busy. However, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 37, the shopkeeper was able to have friendly conversation with his customer beforehand simply by conducting good customer service, encouraging loyal patrons like Jura to come back by paying attention to what he's buying. Upon seeing Jura buy so many cat books, Furuta understandably asks further, learning that Jura is buying them for Hidari. Going the extra mile, Furuta recommends Jura take Hidari to a rescue cat cafe, believing Hidari to be Jura's friend, which subtly brings the enigmatic powerhouse a surprising amount of joy.
Jura had been reading about love and fixating deeply on the concept, with his platonic bond with Hidari being a recurring factor in the series so far. Furuta could engage him further on this topic, giving him the ability to technically outlast a villain in a crucial encounter, prevent him from returning and rebalancing the fight between Hidari and Code, and thus technically be a win for both the Power of Friendship and Talk no Jutsu tropes. Furuta is no shinobi, after all, and continuing to engage with Jura is his only option. But doing so could result in the death of one or both of the villains fighting over what should be done about Sarada, setting off a new future problem.
