Grand Theft Auto 6: The Release Trailer You’ve Been Waiting For

Translate

Rockstar Games is taking one of the last steps on a very long road: The Grand Theft Auto 6 launch trailer arrived Thursday. In an incredibly popular but chaotic series, the new trailer hits different from the rest, complete with a new, haunting track from Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. We’re obsessed with it all.

Judging from the trailer, it seems like the wait has been worth it. The launch trailer hits a beat that the other games haven’t seemed to quite elevate to. It was almost a year ago that Rockstar Games announced it would be releasing GTA 6, and now we’re getting closer to its Nov. 19 release date for the Xbox Series X, Series S and PlayStation 5.

The story centers around a character named Jason, who used to be in the army, but admits he “got into some trouble,” and that they “don’t give loans to people like me.” When he gets a call from the other central character, Lucia, the story begins, and we’re swept into the adventure and chaos that this game is trying to bring to the table.

GTA has always been a choose-your-own-adventure type of game. Personally, I’ve never played through the storylines, instead preferring the open-world nature of doing anything you want in an extensive setting. But this trailer has me intrigued and wanting to know what happens to our main characters.

The new background track is dynamic and sad, suggesting that the story that will unfold won’t be your typical smash-and-bash game.

GTA 6 has been in development for an extremely long time — GTA 5 came out in 2013 — and we’re about to see just what the fruits of Rockstar Games’ labor are all about. Get ready for a new ride that should bring old GTA lovers and newcomers on board.
