Israel Police officers rescued a toddler from a locked car at the Yavne train station on Wednesday after receiving an emergency call from the child's mother, who had already gotten off the train in Tel Aviv.

"I forgot my child in the car," the woman told the police, tearfully. "He's in the parking lot at the Yavne train station, and I'm already in Tel Aviv. Someone needs to break into the car and get him. His preschool teacher is already on the way there."

Police found the child soon after, flushed and red-faced, in acute distress. They shattered the car window and rescued the toddler. He was given medical checks, and police reported he was in good condition despite the near-death experience.

After another Israeli child dies in hot car, United Hatzalah asks parents to 'stop for one second'

In August, United Hatzalah warned against the dangers of leaving children inside hot cars after a 5-year-old boy died after he was left inside his family's car in Lod for about two hours.

"It can happen to loving, responsible parents," the organization warned. "Before you leave your car, stop for one second and look in the back seat."

This incident was the latest in a series of cases involving children who were forgotten or became trapped inside vehicles.

According to data from Beterem, Safe Kids Israel, 23 children died in such incidents between 2021 and 2025. Another 53 children were injured and survived, while children were rescued in time and unharmed in an additional 1,513 cases.
