Trump sweetens election offer: now $5,000 available to every American

Translate

President Donald Trump has made his previously announced “Trump dividend” pledge even more attractive, saying in a social media post on Friday that the $5,000 offer will be available to “every U.S. Citizen” if Republicans win the midterm elections.

During a political rally in Dallas in September, Trump promised to issue a $5,000 “dividend” to every adult U.S. citizen if the GOP retains control of Congress in the upcoming elections in November.

In a Truth Social post announcing a $90 one-time payment offered to over 20M Medicare enrollees, Trump said, "Because I delivered on this very important issue for the American People, they can also rest assured the highly popular $5,000 Trump Dividend will be distributed to every U.S. Citizen.”

With nearly 270M U.S. adults, Trump’s previous $5,000 pledge would cost American taxpayers $1.35T at a time when the national debt has exceeded $40T. His latest offer expands that figure by nearly $230B to roughly $1.58T, assuming there are ~316M U.S. citizens.
