Coronation Street airs cruel Ross Wilkes and Dorin Pop twist in early ITVX release

Translate

Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) has made a twisted comment towards grandson Dorin Pop (Henry Meller) in Coronation Street.

The villain has slipped under the radar over recent weeks, though daughter-in-law Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) continues to keep a watchful eye over him.

Earlier this year, he came face-to-face with Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) for the first time in over 40 years, and she couldn't keep a long-buried secret quiet any longer. Cassie told her family that he is a paedophile, who paid her for sex when she was a teenager.

His new romance Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) was sickened, while son Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) was left wondering who to believe. Ross insisted that he had no idea of Cassie's age, and that he'd been peer-pressured into sleeping with her by his army mates.

Ultimately, Tyrone decided to remain in contact, and Ross dealt a troubling warning to Cassie, saying he'd kill her if she tried to ruin their relationship.

She attempted to drug him, though the plan backfired when he made Tracy drink the concoction she'd prepared. Ostracised from her family, Cassie felt she had no option but to leave Weatherfield.

On her way to a new job on board a cruise, Ross picked her up and she was never seen again. We may never know what happened to her.

Fiz remains suspicious, having found him in possession of a family photograph that she'd gifted to Cassie.

Now settled in Manchester, Ross found work at Highfield Prison and earlier this week, made a comment about imprisoned Richie Parkinson (Nathan Sussex). He's locked up for killing his wife, apparently in self-defence after she launched an attack at him.

Ross poked fun at the situation, saying that there was no way a man could be abused by a woman - completely unaware of the domestic violence that Tyrone faced at the hands of his ex-fiancée Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede).

Kirsty subjected Ty' to months of abuse, which continued after the birth of their daughter Ruby. Fiz suggested that he marry her to gain parental rights of Ruby, though the wedding never went ahead when Kirsty discovered the truth.

She later realised the error of her ways and confessed to her actions. A year in prison followed, and she passed away off-screen in 2021.

Tyrone was mortified by his father's comments, and in today's episode, Tracy forced Ross to apologise. The men shared an emotional conversation, though it soon became clear that he had no intention of changing his ways.

That night, once Tyrone and Fiz were out of the room, he snatched a doll out of Dorin's hand and told the youngster: "Boys don't play with dolls, son. You don't want to turn into a big softy like your dad, do you?"

Will Dorin relay Ross's comments to Tyrone?
