KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — Just when you thought Apple was done for the year, the company has planned another massive surprise. According to Greg Joswiak, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, the company could launch a showcase called “Pro and Tell” on 28 October.

While Apple has yet to reveal the exact lineup, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests this is not just another routine spec bump. Instead, Apple might reveal its very first touchscreen MacBook Pro alongside a refreshed iPad Mini.

A touchscreen MacBook Pro with Dynamic Island

Reportedly, the highlight of this showcase is a redesigned MacBook Pro available in 14-inch and 16-inch variants. Moving away from mini-LED displays, Apple is expected to introduce tandem OLED panels with integrated touch support directly within macOS.

To counteract display wobble during touch interactions, the new chassis reportedly incorporates a reinforced hinge mechanism alongside a thinner and lighter profile.

The existing display notch will also be replaced with an iPhone-style Dynamic Island cutout. On the processing front, Bloomberg reports that these flagship touchscreen models will retain M5 Pro and M5 Max processors rather than transitioning to next-generation chips.

M6 upgrades for the standard MacBook Pro and iMac

If you do not prefer a touchscreen model, Apple still has standard hardware refreshes on the way. Bloomberg reports that the base 14-inch MacBook Pro will get Apple’s newer M6 processor, expanding on the 2nm chip that launched in the Mac Mini earlier this year.

The 24-inch iMac is also slated to receive the M6 chip. Both machines are expected to keep their current designs, giving you faster performance and better power efficiency without the higher cost of a touchscreen OLED model.

iPad Mini gets an OLED panel and a sensible camera shift

The iPad Mini has been quietly sitting in the corner for a while, but it looks like the wait for an upgrade is almost over.

The eighth-generation model is tipped to swap out its ageing LCD panel for an OLED display, promising punchier contrast and proper inky blacks.

The updates do not stop there. Apple is also rumoured to give the tablet an A20 series processor and finally move the front camera to the landscape edge.

That means no more awkward side-angles when taking Zoom calls while the tablet is propped on a desk. Redesigned stereo speakers and improved water resistance are also tipped to be part of the package. — SoyaCincau
