EXCLUSIVE: Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi has recently been teasing his second directorial effort in a year, on the heels of the addiction drama Doe. And we can now tell you that it’s Wrong Number, a horror thriller where he stars opposite Barbie Ferreira (Mile End Kicks).

Currently in production in Los Angeles, Wrong Number centers on Ibn (Mescudi), a lonely self-help author whose unexpected romance with a mysterious woman named Eliza (Ferreira) turns into a waking nightmare when he becomes the target of an unseen stalker and the prime suspect in a string of murders.

Pic’s cast also includes Lucy Barrett (Deep Water), Dewayne Perkins (The Blackening), Clifton Powell (Ray) and Laura Harrier (Michael).

Mescudi is directing from his own script and exec produces alongside Karina Manashil under their Mad Solar banner. Mark Webber, Anthony Baldino, and Ryan Lacen are producing, after working with the multi-hyphenate on his debut feature, Doe. Casting is by Obsession‘s Skyler Zurn, with Mescudi also penning the film’s score.

“A lot of people know that im a huge horror buff. And it was only a matter of time before I’d jump into the genre myself with my own stories,” Mescudi wrote in a statement to Deadline. “WRONG NUMBER is a fun ride, an original story that has all the elements of an epic horror thriller, and I can’t wait for you all the experience it. So thankful to have this amazing cast and team with me on this wild journey. There will be blood!!”

Mescudi is eyeing to release both of his directorial efforts next year. Deadline was also first to report on Doe, a film exploring themes of addiction and survival, where he stars alongside Mark Webber, Leah McNamara, Brandon Scott and Brandon Perea.

“Directing my second film in a year is unreal,” Mescudi said. “I’m learning more and more each day and I’m just ready for the challenge. I’m hyped to see people become fans of my filmmaking in the same ways they are with my music. I’m putting the industry on notice, Mad Solar bout to shake it up.”

Previously best known for his work as an actor and Grammy-winning musical artist, Mescudi’s recent screen credits include Happy Gilmore 2, M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap, Paramount+’s Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series Knuckles and John Woo’s Silent Night. Upcoming, he stars opposite Willow Smith in the animated feature Slime from Jeron Braxton. He is repped by Three Six Zero and Brillstein.

Best known for roles in the likes of EuphoriaFaces of Death and Nope, Ferreira is repped by Authentic Talent & Literary Management, Untitled, and Felker, McGinnis & Ryan.

Barrett is repped by Wendy Powell at Active Artists Management and Ian Stack at Stride Management; Perkins by CAA, Artists First, and attorneys Amber Payne and Isaac Dunham; Powell by Opus Entertainment; and Harrier by CAA and Entertainment 360.
