The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has summoned four operatives of the command who were recorded assaulting a young man in a viral video to the state police command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

A video posted on social media showed about three police personnel pinning a young man to the ground, after which he was handcuffed.

The incident, which reportedly occurred at Ijagba, Sango-Ota, drew outrage from members of the public who were angered by the conduct of the police officers.

A voice accompanying the video said the young man was allegedly arrested for wearing a camouflage knicker, questioning why the police were treating him with such cruelty.

However, responding to the incident, Babaseyi said, “The officers involved have been identified, and the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, has ordered immediate action in line with established procedures.

“The command remains committed to accountability, professional discipline and the highest standards of policing.

“The four officers are already on their way to the headquarters. Further updates will be communicated as developments warrant.”
