India A Take 428-Run Lead To Dominate Day 2 Against New Zealand A

Dhruv Jurel, Tilak Varma and Washington Sundar struck half-centuries before Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets as India A tightened their grip on the third unofficial Test against New Zealand A on the second day on Sunday. Resuming at 227/2, India A rode on fifties from captain Jurel (71), Tilak Varma (81 not out) and Washington Sundar (50 not out) to post 464/5 declared in 146 overs. Returning after recovering from a left hamstring injury, Prasidh struck twice to dismiss openers Rhys Mariu and Curtis Heaphy, leaving New Zealand A reeling at 36/2 at stumps. At the close of play, Dean Foxcroft (10 not out) and Zak Gibson (1 not out) were at the crease, with New Zealand A still trailing by 428 runs.
Earlier, B Sai Sudharsan (88) added only 11 runs to his overnight score before being bowled by Gibson.
Jurel, who resumed on 12, then shared a 31-run stand with Tilak on his way to a fluent 71 off 95 balls, an innings featuring nine fours and two sixes. He brought up his half-century off 75 deliveries before falling to Cameron Paul.
Tilak, who is serving as the backup wicketkeeper-batter in the absence of Rishabh Pant, subsequently added 44 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (25) before stitching together an unbroken 114-run partnership with Washington Sundar that put India A in complete control.
Tilak's innings included five fours and two sixes, while Washington struck two boundaries during his unbeaten knock.
India A reached 331/4 in 101 overs at lunch after the second new ball was taken at 80.1 overs, with Tilak and Jadeja at the crease.
After Jadeja was dismissed by Gibson, who claimed his second wicket of the day with Matthew Boyle taking the catch, Tilak and Washington batted positively to take India A beyond the 400-run mark in 130.5 overs.
The pair brought up their century stand for the sixth wicket off 197 balls, with Tilak reaching his fifty off 131 deliveries.
Washington also raised his half-century off 107 balls before India A declared their innings.
India's pace spearheads Jasprit Bumrah (0/11) and Prasidh Krishna (2/12), both using the match as preparation for the upcoming Test series, bowled probing opening spells to leave the hosts in a commanding position.
The first two matches of the series ended in draws.
