Diane Warren To Write Original Song For ‘Armani: The King Of Fashion’

EXCLUSIVE: Perennial Oscar nominee Diane Warren is set to write the original song for Armani: The King of Fashion, the upcoming biopic of the fashion icon directed by Bille August.
The attachment of Warren reunites her with Italian producer Andrea Iervolino after their collaboration on Tell It Like A Woman, whose song was Oscar-nominated, and the upcoming biopic Maserati: The Brothers.
The synopsis for the film reads: “Conceived as a cinematic portrait of Giorgio Armani’s life, vision, and enduring influence, Armani: The King of Fashion will explore the journey of a man who transformed a deeply personal creative vision into a global symbol of Italian excellence. From his beginnings in Piacenza to his international impact on fashion, design, and culture, Armani built a legacy defined by independence, discipline, innovation, and an unmistakable aesthetic that transcended generations.”
Start date and cast has yet to be revealed.
Producer Iervolino said today: “When I called Diane to ask her to join Armani: The King of Fashion, we immediately connected on what makes Giorgio Armani’s story so extraordinary. It is a story about the power of a vision, the courage to pursue it, and the determination to build something that ultimately becomes greater than oneself. There is something universal in his journey. Giorgio Armani came from Piacenza, far from the traditional centers of international power, and went on to become one of the most influential creative figures in the world. He did not simply build a successful fashion house; he established an aesthetic, a philosophy, and a standard of elegance that became instantly recognizable across cultures and generations.”
He continued: “Like the greatest stories ever told on screen, his journey has the emotional strength of an individual who believes in his own path and changes the world around him. His legacy is a testament to Italian creativity, entrepreneurial vision, and the extraordinary things that can happen when talent is matched by perseverance and an uncompromising sense of purpose. Diane has a remarkable gift for capturing the emotional truth of a story and transforming it into music that resonates with people everywhere. Having worked with her before, I know the sensitivity, intelligence, and artistic
integrity she brings to every project. I am delighted that she will be part of this film, and I believe her contribution will help us honor Giorgio Armani’s legacy with the emotion and distinction it deserves.”
An honorary Oscar winner, as well as a Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe winner, Warren has famously received 17 nominations for Academy Awards, the most of any individual without a win.
The Armani Group and family said this summer that they have not authorized Iervolino’s planned biopic of the late fashion designer and will not participate in its creation.
Armani passed away on September 4, aged 91, due to liver failure. The fashion giant was previously the subject of a 2015 short film by Martin Scorsese. Crash writer Bobby Moresco is writing the screenplay for the Bille August-directed biopic.
