Indonesia focuses on food, energy, poverty, jobs: President Prabowo

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Indonesian government remains focused on resolving fundamental issues that serve as the foundation of Indonesia’s strength and self-reliance, including food and energy security, poverty alleviation, and job creation.

Speaking on the "Presiden Prabowo Menjawab" (President Prabowo Answers) program released by the Government Communications Agency in Jakarta on Wednesday, the president stated that food security is one of the government’s top priorities to ensure the public's basic needs are met.

"First and foremost, I must secure our food availability. After that, we must secure our fuel supply," Prabowo said.

The government is also taking steps to meet national energy demands by developing palm oil-based biofuels, including a 50 percent biodiesel blend (B50), and expanding large-scale solar power generation.

In addition, Prabowo stressed that the government is giving serious attention to child hunger, stunting, as well as absolute and extreme poverty.

"For me, what we must address immediately is child hunger, stunting, absolute poverty, and extreme poverty," he stressed.

These efforts run parallel to budget efficiency measures and the push to curb the leakage of state funds.

The government, Prabowo said, is directing available resources toward investments in productive sectors that can generate foreign exchange and create jobs.

In the economic sector, the government is also promoting downstream processing to increase the added value of domestic natural resources.

He said several downstreaming projects have been launched and are expected to strengthen national industry while creating more employment opportunities.

The community economy is also being strengthened through the development of Red and White Village Cooperatives and Red and White Fishing Villages, which aim to strengthen supply chains at the village level, increase local incomes, and reduce logistics costs.

Prabowo explained that integrating the two programs would help secure market access for fishermen’s catches while supporting the public’s protein needs.

In the education sector, the government continues to implement various measures to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources, including learning digitalization, school renovations, and teacher training.

All of these initiatives, the president noted, are part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s foundations in navigating future challenges.
