New Spider-Man Spin-Off Series Officially Announced at Marvel

Peter Parker will not have to wait until Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man returns to Disney+ to continue his latest adventure. The animated series ended its first season with Peter (Hudson Thames) facing a dramatically altered personal life, an increasingly complicated relationship with Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo), and several threats waiting to become much larger problems. Marvel is now filling the gap between seasons with a story that officially belongs to the show’s expanding continuity.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man reimagines Peter’s earliest days as a hero and places Norman as his powerful mentor. The first season also built a new circle around Peter that included Nico Minoru (Grace Song), Lonnie Lincoln (Eugene Byrd), Pearl Pangan (Cathy Ang), and Harry Osborn (Zeno Robinson) while introducing alternate versions of familiar Marvel heroes and villains. Season 2 is expected to continue that increasingly crowded story when it premieres on Disney+ early next year.

Marvel Comics has announced a four-issue Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series that will bridge Seasons 1 and 2 beginning this December. Writer Christos Gage and artist Eric Gapstur will reunite after creating the previous comic prequel to the animated show. The new story will take place after the Season 1 finale and directly prepare Peter’s world for what happens next onscreen.

Spider-Man’s New Comic Will Introduce More Classic Villains

Peter will begin the series increasingly disconnected from his friends, while Norman appears to have stepped away from the “spider business.” Harry remains unconvinced that his father is truly finished, especially when strange activity at Oscorp gives Spider-Man and his friends a new mystery to investigate. The premise suggests Norman’s experiments will remain central even if he is no longer openly supervising Peter’s superhero career. Gage developed the comic in coordination with showrunner Jeff Trammell, making the story an official part of the animated series’ continuity rather than an unrelated adaptation. The writer has also teased appearances from Daredevil and several classic Spider-Man villains making their debuts in this universe. Marvel has not identified those villains, leaving their identities and possible Season 2 importance hidden for now.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 will arrive in comic shops on December 9 with a main cover by Leonardo Romero and variant covers from Luciano Vecchio and David Baldeón. The limited series will run for four issues, giving readers an entire new adventure before Peter returns to Disney+.

Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man does not currently have a specific premiere date, but the animated series is expected to return in early 2027.
