Five cars set alight outside Melbourne homes in fourth night of firebombings

Translate

Five cars have been set on fire outside homes in a fourth consecutive night of firebombings in Melbourne residential streets.

Police say two arson attacks in Reservoir in the city's north are linked.

Firefighters responded to a third incident in Springvale, in Melbourne's south-east.

Police are investigating after multiple cars were set alight across Melbourne this morning.

Firefighters found two cars alight on Pallant Avenue in Reservoir, in Melbourne's north, just before 2am.

About 20 minutes later, two cars were engulfed in fire in the front yard of a home on Boldrewood Parade, about 5 kilometres from the first scene.

All four vehicles were destroyed.

Police said the two arson attacks were linked.

Less than two hours later, a car was set alight in Burrapike Avenue in Springvale, in Melbourne's south-east.

The fire spread to the home.

Crime scenes have been set up in all three locations and detectives have begun investigations.

It brings the number of cars destroyed in residential firebombings this week to 11.

Two homes were damaged, one substantially, in yesterday's attacks in Balwyn North and Maidstone.

There have also been firebombings in Keilor and Taylors Hill.

A teenager who was burnt during the Taylors Hill incident continues to fight for life in hospital.

Yesterday, a senior detective said Victoria Police was concerned by the attacks and was aware of the community's concerns about safety.
