More questioning awaits Isa Samad in Felda probe once he recovers from eye surgery, says MACC

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 25 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will resume recording the statement of Datuk Seri Isa Samad once the former Felda chairman recovers from a medical procedure.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said Isa is being treated at the Serdang Hospital after undergoing eye surgery.

“Regarding Isa’s statement, we had to put it on hold. It was supposed to be recorded yesterday and today, but since he is unwell, we have postponed it until we receive information on his health status from the Prisons Department.

“Once he has recovered, we will continue recording his statement. There is still a lot that needs to be recorded from him,” he told a press conference after the closing ceremony for the 5th National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Research Conference here today.

Earlier, the media reported that the MACC confirmed it recorded Isa’s statement at the Sungai Buloh Prison on September 17 to assist in investigations into the Op Fella case.

Abdul Halim said the statement was recorded in connection with Felda and Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB)’s purchase and investment of assets, which are suspected to involve elements of corruption and misappropriation. — Bernama
