Bloodborne Remastered Is Available To Download Right Now

Bloodborne took FromSoftware's tried and true Dark Souls formula and turned it on its head. Gameplay was faster, blocking was nigh on impossible and playing aggressively rewarded players with some health restoration. These gameplay tweaks combined with an Eldritch horror fantasy world, gave PlayStation fans one of the best Miyazaki gaming experiences out there. Bloodborne is 11 years old though, and we've yet to see it running at 60fps on modern hardware... until now!

For years, the Bloodborne community have been begging for a remake of the game on modern hardware as the original is still stuck running at 30fps. With their pleas seemingly falling on deaf ears all the years, it's no surprise that fans have taken matters into their own hands. A modder known as fromsoftserve (very clever) has recently released a mod that allows users to play Bloodborne on PC with a massive visual overhaul. Known as BB PC Remaster, this mod features dynamic lighting, upscaled resolution, sharper textures and modifications to shadow ranges and draw distances.

The BB PC Remaster mod is free to download from NexusMods and because it's for PC, the frame rate is uncapped. No longer trapped on PS4/PS5, players will now be able to explore Yharnam with a buttery smooth frame rate. The only downside to this is you'll no longer be able to blame the FPS for your untimely dodges and ultimate demise! Getting the chance to revisit the grotesque nightmarish world of Bloodborne on PC feels like a dream come true. A hunter's dream come true to be precise!

BB PC Remaster isn't the first mod to bring tweaks to a PC version of Bloodborne, but it is one of the best. The visual and lighting overhaul alone deserve most of the credit as Bloodborne has never looked so good. This Eldritch horror classic gets a lease of new life on PC thanks to a dedicated community of fans and one or two rather creative modders. You will, of course, need the shadps4qtlauncher first before running the mod, and an original copy of Bloodborne to avoid piracy.

Getting a Bloodborne Remaster made by the fans might not be everyone's ideal scenario, but unfortunately, it's the best we have for the moment. With FromSoftware well and truly focussed on the upcoming game The Duskbloods for Nintendo Switch 2, it might be a very long time before they decide to work on a Bloodborne Remaster. And with Bluepoint Games now shut down, it's unlikely that a talented outsourced team will get to tackle the project. Bluepoint Games did an amazing job remastering Demon's Souls, so it's a pity they will never get the chance to try their hands at BloodBorne.

With both The Duskbloods and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TIme remake scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI might have some competition on its hands. But for some fans, 2026 is the year to once again dream of being a hunter. The fan-made Bloodborne remaster is now available for free to download, so you've got no excuse to not sharpen your saw cleaver and find your worth in the waking world. And remember...a hunter is a hunter, even in a dream!
