WWE is reportedly planning a November celebration for the 30th anniversary of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's debut, with a commemorative championship belt, special merchandise and social media campaigns in the works. WrestleVotes Radio passed the plans along through Fightful Select on November 5. The anniversary lands on November 17, the date Johnson first competed for the company at Madison Square Garden in New York as Rocky Maivia. Whether Johnson himself will take part, or show up on WWE television during the month, isn't covered in the report. That includes Survivor Series on November 28 this year.

WWE's Reported Plans Include a Commemorative Belt, Special Merchandise and Social Media Tributes

The clearest details so far are about the stuff WWE wants to put out. Fightful Select says the company is preparing “a commemorative championship belt, special merchandise releases, and social media campaigns” for the anniversary.

Nothing has been reported on the belt's design, price or release date. And the campaign is tied to Johnson's 1996 debut, not to a confirmed in-ring return.

Johnson came into WWE as Rocky Maivia and worked a four-on-four elimination match. He teamed with Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Marc Mero and The Stalker against Goldust, Triple H, Jerry Lawler and Crush.

WWE's official event results list The Rock as the sole survivor for his team, which in that format means everyone else on his side had been eliminated before he finished it. That debut took place on November 17, 1996.

WWE's 2021 Anniversary Featured the Cleopatra Golden Egg Storyline, While The Rock Last Appeared in 2025

WWE also marked the 25th anniversary of the debut in November 2021, but Johnson didn't appear at Survivor Series that year, in person or through a recorded message.

Instead, Vince McMahon's story ran on a “Cleopatra's golden egg,” a tie-in to Johnson's Netflix film Red Notice, which had been released not long before.

The egg was reported stolen during the show. On following night's Raw, McMahon named Austin Theory as the person who took it, and Theory still got a WWE Championship opportunity.

Johnson's most recent WWE appearance came at Elimination Chamber in 2025. He stood with John Cena and Travis Scott for the segment where Cena turned against Cody Rhodes.

Some expected Johnson to show up later at WrestleMania 41, but he said he had chosen to step away from that storyline.

For this year, the report doesn't confirm a television segment or an appearance by Johnson at Survivor Series on November 28. Right now the announced plans are merchandise and social media activity.
