KUALA PILAH, Sept 18 — Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir today received a memorandum expressing loyalty and support for him after performing Friday prayers at the Tuanku Munawir Royal Mosque here.

Tuanku Muhriz was accompanied by his sons, Tunku Besar of Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin and Tunku Panglima Besar Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin.

Also present were Undang of Sungei Ujong Datuk Klana Petra Muhammad Faris Johari and Undang of Rembau Datuk Sedia Raja Hassan Ab Hamid, who joined more than 500 congregants for prayers led by the mosque’s executive imam, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim.

After the prayers, Tuanku Muhriz received the memorandum from Dr Mohd Aluwi Sari, head of the Secretariat for Loyalty and Support for the 11th Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

His Royal Highness also spent time with worshippers at the mosque.

“Thank you, everyone,” he said.

Mohd Aluwi said the memorandum affirmed the secretariat’s commitment to upholding the royal institution and Constitution, preserving Adat Perpatih, respecting the rule of law and safeguarding peace and harmony in the state.

“If there is any content that challenges or undermines the position of the royal institution, we ask that it be professionally investigated and appropriate action taken,” he said.

He also urged all political parties and leaders to respect the jurisdiction of the royal institution and Negeri Sembilan’s *adat* (customary) structure.

The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) said yesterday that an April 19 proclamation concerning Tuanku Muhriz’s position was invalid because it failed to comply with the mandatory requirements of Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959.

The AGC also said the Menteri Besar and Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council did not have unilateral authority to depose the Yang Dipertuan Besar or declare the position vacant.

Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) has reiterated that Tuanku Muhriz remains the lawful Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and chairman of the council. — Bernama
