A Court Of Thorns & Roses Has Officially Returned

Translate

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

Marking the first installment in the beloved romance fantasy novel series by Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Thorns and Roses was published back in 2015, and now, over a decade later, it is still going strong. With five entries currently published, a further three installments are set to launch in October, January 2027, and beyond, and to celebrate, we are set to head back to where it all began with an exciting new release.

With it being just a few days until the launch of the sixth installment in the series, A Court of Splintered Harmony, fans of Maas are feeling the hype, so what better way to celebrate than by getting ready for a complete genre switch for the hit fiction franchise?

Not one, but two board games inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses are set to launch after first being announced to the attendees of Gen Con 2026. Created by Goliath Games, the first, titled A Court of Thorns and Roses: Fate and Favor, is an officially licensed board game for the ACOTAR series, and will see some familiar faces from the series, such as Feyre and Rhysand, take to equally iconic locations in the land of Prythian.

Featuring the seven courts, players will be able to take on the role of a High Lord or High Lady and navigate political intrigue, court politics, and iconic moments taken straight from the book itself.

"Many members of our team have been ACOTAR fans for years, and that passion shaped every decision, from the gameplay and artwork to the materials and final design. We wanted to deliver an experience fans would be excited to share around the table."

Multiple Editions Available

A Court of Thorns and Roses: Fate and Favor launched just yesterday and is available in multiple editions. The first is the Bookseller Variant, which comes alongside exclusive packaging, whilst Target frequenters can purchase the Target Exclusive Edition. However, other than different packaging, the games are otherwise the same, and so I would not worry about missing out on one or the other.

Additionally, coming in at $24.99, it is a respectable price, and will make for the perfect gift for the ACOTAR lover in your life, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

According to a statement by Goliath: "Many members of our team have been ACOTAR fans for years, and that passion shaped every decision, from the gameplay and artwork to the materials and final design. We wanted to deliver an experience fans would be excited to share around the table."

That Is Not All

A Court Of Thorns And Roses monopoly

We have not forgotten about the second board game mentioned as, at long last, A Court of Thorns and Roses has received its very own official Monopoly edition. Launching back on 1 October, Hasbro has teamed up with Maas to bring the fantasy world to one of the most iconic board games of all time.

Featuring some iconic locations in Prythian, such as Velaris and The Townhouse, the game will center on the first three books in the series and again, will launch with two editions: a green Amazon variant, and a standard red which matches the look of the original book cover.
