Patrick Mahomes had little to celebrate after the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. But his wife, Brittany Mahomes, had a reason to smile away from the NFL field. The couple's investment in women's soccer delivered a result as the Kansas City Current welcomed a record crowd for their final home game of the 2026 season. The achievement gave the club something to celebrate after a busy weekend in Kansas City, with supporters turning up in numbers that were not limited to the stadium's regular seating capacity.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes' KC Current make history
The Kansas City Current made history on October 25 by drawing approximately 18,000 fans for their matchday celebration at CPKC Stadium and the surrounding Current Landing area. Patrick and Brittany, who co-own the National Women's Soccer League club alongside Chris and Angie Long, had reason to be pleased with the turnout.
CPKC Stadium holds around 11,500 to 12,000 spectators,. To welcome more supporters, the club introduced a Ground Pass experience at Current Landing, allowing fans to watch the match from outside the stadium.
According to FOX4KC, around 6,000 people gathered in the outdoor viewing area. The $10 pass offered access to five viewing screens, food, games, a children's zone and halftime entertainment, giving supporters another way to enjoy the occasion.
KC Current chief marketing director Jocelyn Monroe said the club wanted more people to experience matchday together.
“What really makes the atmosphere is the people, so having more of our fans have the opportunity to come down and build out an accessible area for them is something we always were thinking about,” Monroe said.
The record attendance followed the Current's third consecutive playoff qualification, secured after the Portland Thorns beat the North Carolina Courage on October 23.
KC Current's $325 million valuation adds to the good news
The record crowd came during a strong period for the club's business. Forbes valued the Kansas City Current at $325 million in April 2026, making it the NWSL's second-most valuable franchise behind Angel City FC, valued at $340 million. The Current's valuation rose 18% from the previous year.
The club has continued investing in its facilities and matchday experience. CPKC Stadium opened in 2024 after Chris and Angie Long privately financed its $140 million construction. In July, the Current broke ground on a $52 million expansion project in Riverside, Missouri, featuring Riverside Stadium, a performance center and pitch expansion.
Current Landing has grown beyond a matchday gathering space, too. Revel Bar & Grill and Providence Pizza added dining options to the entertainment district, with Providence Pizza opening on the same day as the attendance record.
For Patrick and Brittany, the milestone offered a welcome sporting success after the Chiefs' difficult night against Seattle.
