KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Professor Dr Kuik Cheng-Chwee on being ranked among the world's top two per cent of scientists in 2026.

Anwar said the achievement reflected Kuik's academic excellence and contributions to knowledge, while raising Malaysia's profile internationally.

"May this achievement continue to foster a culture of knowledge, strengthen the tradition of research and inspire future generations of scholars to contribute to the country's progress," he said in a post on X today.

Kuik, Principal Fellow at UKM's Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS), was ranked 31st globally in the subfield of International Relations, making him the highest-ranked scholar in Asia.

The list was compiled through a collaboration between Stanford University and academic publisher Elsevier.
