Actor Maurice Paige’s mayoral bid falls flat: ‘Disappointed’

Actor Maurice Paige has shared his disappointment at his failed mayoral bid under the People’s Movement for Change (PMC).
The former Isidingo and Suidooster star joined the political party a few months ahead of the local government elections.
MAURICE PAIGE ON FAILED MAYORAL BID
Ahead of the local government elections, Maurice Paige announced his mayoral bid for the Cape Winelands District, which is governed by the Democratic Alliance’s Elna von Schlicht.
His involvement in the relatively new political party was initially intended to promote the creative industries, youth opportunities and community initiatives.
The PMC has received just 1% of the votes in the municipality, with the majority going to the DA.
Maurice shared in a Facebook post: “When the results fall short, I still get to choose the kind of man I’ll be. I can be honest about the disappointment and still be grateful for the people who stood beside me. I can hold my head high, learn from what happened and show up tomorrow with the same heart I had when I started”.
The actor added: “I believe God has a plan for my life, even when I can’t see where this season is leading. Some days, faith looks like getting up, saying a prayer and taking the next step while the disappointment is still fresh.
Encouraging his followers, he continued: “If you’re in that season too, give yourself grace. Keep your word. Keep doing good. And when you can’t see the whole road, trust God with the step in front of you.
“I’ll remain the man I was born to be; I’m 10 toes down; this war is still on. PMC is growing, and we’re’re still in this”.
