Thanks to the reveal of its cover art, it looks like AFC Richmond is in FC 27, with a brand-new Ted Lasso crossover from Apple's TV show appearing in EA's yearly football sim.

Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond originally appeared in EA's football games way back in FIFA 23. In that game, you could play as the fictitious southwest London club.

Since then, a lot has changed. We're now into Ted Lasso Season 4 and EA famously lost the FIFA license.

But you're here to know one thing. Can you play as AFC Richmond in FC 27?

Yes, AFC Richmond is in FC 27. This is based on the TV show football club's crest and famous 'Believe' sign appearing on the game's cover art.

Over on the official FC 27 website, EA has gone into some details regarding AFC Richmond's appearance in the game.

"AFC Richmond is a football team from the southwest area of London, England. Formed in 1897, its women's team is currently coached by Ted Lasso."

EA also explains that the "'Believe' sign is a prominent feature in all of AFC Richmond's dressing rooms. It's a bold reminder to keep believing no matter what."

Now, what the official site doesn't tell us is what capacity AFC Richmond is in FC 27.

Is it a playable club just as it was way back in FIFA 23? We don't know for sure just yet.

Time will tell but given the club is clearly featured on the game's cover art and it has a page about it on the game's official site, we'd be surprised if at least the AFC Richmond women's team isn't playable in FC 27.

It could be that AFC Richmond feature solely in The Grounds mode but we'll find out soon enough when the game releases to early access players on 18 September.
