CONFIRMED: No Pollard, Kurt-Lee in double backline blow for Springboks

Translate

Springbok wing Cheslin Kolbe and flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu have been drafted into the starting lineup for the second Castle Double Malt Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Series Test against the All Blacks in Cape Town on Saturday.

The Springboks have confirmed the withdrawal of Handre Pollard and Kurt-Lee Arendse from Saturday’s starting XV, with Kolbe and Feinberg-Mngomezulu coming in as replacements. Manie Libbok will serve as the back-up flyhalf on the bench.

Kolbe has recovered fully from the knock [cramp/hamstring strain] that saw him leave the field in last week’s during last week’s defeat against the All Blacks in Johannesburg and will replace Arendse [concussion] in the match-day squad.

Pollard, who was selected ahead of Feinberg-Mngomezulu for this week’s showdown, has picked up a niggle at training on Wednesday, and after being assessed on Friday morning, the decision was made to withdraw him from the team.

As a result, Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who started and underperformed in the Tests against Argentina a fortnight ago and the All Blacks last week, has been called on to the start the match, while Libbok will provide cover on the bench along with scrumhalf Morne van den Berg.

The match, which will be hosted at the DHL Stadium, kicks off at 17h10 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
