Sivakarthikeyan clarifies his take on smoking scenes
Speaking at an event, Sivakarthikeyan said he does not want directors to feel restricted by his personal choices.
“In my initial films, I used to do some scenes like that. After that, whenever the characters didn’t demand it, I avoided it. I don’t want to scare directors. If the story demands it, we’ll do it,” he said. The actor explained that his decision is based on whether such scenes suit the character and the story.
He added that he does not want filmmakers to avoid writing certain scenes simply because they assume he will not perform them.
Sivakarthikeyan says he is allergic to smoke
The actor also spoke about his personal discomfort with smoking and how drinking scenes are handled during filming. “I’m allergic to smoke, and for drinking scenes, I’ll ask for jeera water. So, I’ve been following this practice consistently in my films, and the directors haven’t compelled me to do it,” he said. His comments offer a clearer picture of how the team handles such scenes on set. Rather than treating it as a strict rule, Sivakarthikeyan said he considers the needs of the story while staying comfortable with the way these scenes are filmed.
