SEREMBAN, Oct 1 — Negeri Sembilan DAP today lodged a police report over a social media post allegedly linking the party to the state’s ongoing crisis and royal institution.
State DAP chairman J. Arul Kumar said a post by a Facebook account under the name Khalide Al Walid had, among other things, alleged links between the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and DAP, as well as connecting the party to issues involving customary land.
He said the allegations were serious as they involved the royal institution, which should remain above party politics.
“As a political party, we are accustomed to criticism and pressure, but when the royal institution is linked to any political party, it crosses the line,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Seremban district police headquarters here today.
Arul said DAP would leave it to the police to investigate, including identifying the owner and background of the account and determining any action under the law.
He said the post also allegedly linked DAP to several other issues, including customary land, elected representatives attending religious briefings and the renaming of roads.
Arul, who is the Nilai assemblyman, said the transfer of ownership of customary land had never been discussed during his eight years as a state executive councillor.
He also clarified that DAP elected representatives who attended briefings at the religious office did so in their capacity as elected representatives to obtain information for their constituents, particularly Muslim voters.
On the renaming of roads, Arul said such matters were decided by the State Executive Council and should not be attributed to any political party.
He said DAP did not want the issues politicised or linked to the party, adding that the ongoing crisis in Negeri Sembilan needed to be resolved promptly to ensure the state administration could function effectively. — Bernama
