The NDTV AM Green IGPL Golf Pro-Am landed in Hyderabad on Saturday, for another round of high-class golf at the Hyderabad Golf Club. IGPL CEO Uttam Mendy was present at the venue, including the opening ceremony of Saturday's event. In an exclusive chat with NDTV, Mundy reserved high praise for the golf on show, as well as for the picturesque venue. Mundy emphasized the importance of the intersection of different worlds for the global benefit of golf in India.

"Really, really looking forward to the finale today. We've had a fantastic and exciting week, and of course a really worthy champion, Gaganjeet Bhullar. Great performance by some of our other players as well - Karandeep Kochhar, Manav Shah... Fantastic to see the kind of scoring that has been put up this week," Uttam Mendy said.

Mundy expressed confidence in the amateurs, backing them to perform at an even higher level than they've done so far, despite the Hyderabad heat.

"Of course (the amateurs can perform well), if not better. The course is in pristine condition and I think the amateurs would love playing golf, especially in the scenic beauty of this golf course, so I think they'll forget about the heat," he said.

Mundy spoke on how the Hyderabad Golf Club has transformed across the years.

"I came here long back, 2012 or 2013. Back then the course was fairly new. From then to now, it's a total transformation. From the golf course to the clubhouse to the infrastructure, it's fantastic," he stated.

Finally, the IGPL CEO stressed on how different sectors - business houses, media and those within golf - have come together to strengthen the foundations of the sport in the country.

"It's great to have corporate leaders playing alongside the professionals. Specially now with NDTV being a partner of AM Green IGPL, it goes an extra length. We now have the business houses, the media and the golf section together. That's fantastic for the growth of golf, because professional golf funding is required and that is what makes the whole tour work. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to all get together and work on the same mission," Uttam Mundy said.
