Kaizer Chiefs faithful falling in love with Langelihle Phili

Langelihle Phili is quickly becoming a favourite among the Kaizer Chiefs faithful after making an impressive start to life at the Soweto giants.
The 21-year-old winger joined Amakhosi from Stellenbosch in early August and wasted little time making his mark, scoring Kaizer Chiefs’ goal in their 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium last Saturday.

Caught the attention of supporters
Phili’s pace, skill and willingness to take on defenders have already caught the attention of supporters, while his goal against the reigning CAF Champions League champions provided an early highlight in his Kaizer Chiefs career.
“For me to represent Kaizer Chiefs is an honour and a privilege,” Phili said.
“Being able to help the team is a testament to the people within the club and the organisation who have welcomed me with open arms.”
Scoring in such a high-profile fixture was particularly special for the young attacker.
“Being able to play and score against Mamelodi Sundowns was huge for me, as could be seen from my celebration,” he said.
Focused on improving
Despite his impressive beginning, Phili insists he remains focused on improving and contributing to the team.
“I must just keep listening to the coach and the technical team, learning from my team-mates and just keep trying hard every day to become a better version of myself,” he said.
His exciting style has already drawn comparisons from supporters to former Kaizer Chiefs entertainers such as Teenage Dladla and Jabu Mahlangu.
For Phili, winning the affection of the Amakhosi faithful is motivation to keep delivering.
“It’s the best feeling ever to be loved by supporters,” he said.
“I’ll keep on trying to please them through maximum effort, which is something they appreciate.”
