Shakira Reflects on Personal Struggles During Final Show of Historic 13-Date Madrid Residency

Shakira brought her 13-show Madrid residency to a close on Monday night with an emotional performance that saw the Colombian superstar reflect on personal difficulties, thank her fans for their support, and welcome a star-studded lineup of guests, including Maluma, Bizarrap, Laura Pausini, Beéle, and Dani Martín.

“This has been one of the most important months of my career,” Shakira told the audience at Macondo Park, according to Spanish music site LOS40. But the singer acknowledged that the experience had not been without challenges.

“I’ve also gone through difficult moments this month because of my dad’s health, because I’ve had to deal with personal situations you already know about,” she said, before crediting her fans with giving her the strength to take the stage each night.

Shakira also described the residency as a turning point in her life. “There has been a before and after for me. It’s all been a dream,” she told the crowd, admitting that she initially thought performing eight concerts in Madrid would be impossible.

The final night also featured several collaborations. Maluma joined Shakira for “Chantaje” and their new song “Agua,” while Beéle performed “Algo Tú,” Dani Martín appeared for “Te Dejo Madrid,” and Laura Pausini surprised the audience with “Antología.” Bizarrap closed the show alongside Shakira with their chart-topping “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53.”

According to figures released by Shakira’s team, the residency drew more than 700,000 attendees across 13 performances at a purpose-built venue within Macondo Park. The first nine concerts alone sold 452,097 tickets and grossed $61.3 million, according to Pollstar data, helping Shakira reach No. 1 on the publication’s LIVE75 chart.
