Kenya Power Announces Saturday Outages in Nyeri and Kiambu Counties

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nyeri and Kiambu counties on Saturday, October 24, 2026, to facilitate maintenance works.

The scheduled outages will affect several villages, markets, schools, health facilities, farms and residential estates, with interruptions expected to last between 8am and 5pm, depending on the area.

The utility has advised customers in the affected locations to prepare for the temporary power interruptions.

Nyeri County

1. Thamaru and Ngunguru — 8am to 5pm

The planned maintenance will affect the following areas:

• Kahara Village
• Karogoto MI
• Kahiga Village
• Thamaru Village
• Ngunguru Secondary School
• Kiambachi Village
• Ngurumo Dispensary
• Ngunguru Coffee Factory
• Maingirano Village
• Gatiki Village
• Safaricom boosters
• Airtel boosters

Adjacent customers will also be affected.

2. Kangubiri Girls High School — 9am to 5pm

The interruption will affect:

• Kangubiri Girls High School
• Kanderi Village

Adjacent customers will also experience the outage.

3. Kagumo TTC and Mutathini — 9am to 5pm

The following locations will be affected:

• Kagumo Teachers Training College (TTC)
• Kiambuiri
• North Tetu Coffee Factory
• G.N. Rukahu
• Mutathini Market
• Lilongwe
• Mutathini booster
• Parts of Munyororo Village
• Kiriti Village

Adjacent customers will also be affected.

Kiambu County

4. Kirigiti, Riabai and Ting’ang’a — 9am to 5pm

Kenya Power will interrupt electricity supply in the following areas:

• Kirigiti Market
• Riabai Market
• Parts of Ndumberi
• Sasini
• Ting’ang’a Market
• Ngaita
• Gichocho
• Nyautto
• St. Ann Lluki
• Muhugu Farm
• Mworoto
• Anmer Primary School
• Zaria Estate
• Dewridge Estate
• Kenflora Growers
• Nyala Farmhouse

Adjacent customers will also be affected.
