DPWH chief visits landslide-hit area in Baguio, inspects other infra

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, accompanied by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, inspected the Guisad Surong landslide site on Friday, Aug. 21, to assess the damage and determine immediate measures to protect residents.
The inspection focused on funding for emergency response and slope protection works in the landslide-hit area.

Magalong said Dizon recognized the severity of the situation and the urgent need for interventions to ensure the safety of residents.

Dizon and Magalong also inspected other areas in Benguet affected by Typhoons Luis and Maymay and the enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
They visited the curtain netting and slope protection works along the Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road in Bangho, Daclan, Tublay; a road slip along the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road in Beckel, La Trinidad; and the Strawberry Farm-Bolo Creek Flood Control project. —MAUREEN MATAYEW/CONTRIBUTOR
