Three London fish and chip shops named among UK’s best as they chase major 2027 title

Three London fish and chip shops have been shortlisted for a major national award, with the venues now in the running to be crowned the UK’s best takeaway.

Chipping Wharf Fish & Chips in Bow, Fish! Kitchen in Southwark and Skipjacks in Harrow have all secured places in the top 40 of the National Fish & Chip Awards 2027.

The annual awards, organised by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), celebrate the country’s fish and chip shops and recognise businesses across a range of categories.

The 40 takeaways were selected following assessments covering everything from the quality of their fish and chips and hygiene standards to customer service, sustainability and business operations.

Now, the three London contenders will go head-to-head with some of the country’s top chippies as they battle for the Takeaway of the Year 2027 title.

Two London takeaways made last year’s top 40, with one going on to reach the top 20, although neither ultimately made the final 10.

The winner will be revealed at an awards ceremony at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge

This year, the 40 shortlisted businesses will first be whittled down to 20 before the final 10 are announced.

The overall winner will then be revealed at an awards ceremony at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in February.

The National Fish & Chip Awards are now in their 39th year, with the competition also recognising businesses and individuals across categories including Restaurant of the Year, Young Fish Frier of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Field to Frier, Mobile Operator of the Year and Environmental and Sustainable Business.
