Great British Bake Off viewers spot odd Nigella Lawson habit

Viewers of The Great British Bake Off have noticed something odd about the way new judge Nigella Lawson tastes the bakes. Nigella made her debut on the new series of GBBO last week, taking over from Prue Leith, and joining longtime judge Paul Hollywood.

Nigella has already gone down a storm with viewers, who have praised the judge for her honesty and positivity towards the bakers.

But tonight (Tuesday 29 September), viewers noticed something unusual about how Nigella tucked in to the bakers' offerings.

As it was Biscuit Week, for the technical challenge the bakers were tasked with making 24 Iced Gems, without a recipe.

The Iced Gems had to have an orange shortbread biscuit topped with rainbow-coloured icing in the shape of a star. The bakers' results varied but one thing that was consistent was the cautious way Nigella sampled the biscuits.

"Nigella looks like she's breaking her teeth in when she eats," wrote one viewer, while another added: "Nigella eats so weird."

A third added: "Nigella seems to have a problem biting things."

But, odd eating habits aside, Nigella has been a big hit with viewers so far, with fans particularly enjoying her interactions with Paul, especially when he gets a telling off.

One viewer wrote: "Week 2 and Nigella is telling Paul off already. She’s the best thing to happen to this show since Alison Hammond."

Another added: "Episode 2 and I get a sense Paul and Nigella are not besties," while a third wrote: "I can see why Paul Hollywood doesn’t like Nigella bc she is giving proper constructive criticism unlike him."

A fourth viewer said: "I really think Nigella was the perfect hire for @BritishBakeOff she just knows exactly what to say and says it all with fabulous vocabulary."

This week's episode saw Danni become the first contestant to leave the show, after the bakers were spared an elimination last week. Next week the bakers will tackle Bread Week.
