CBS is officially bringing Ghosts back earlier than expected, giving the sitcom a return with a special season 6 premiere episode happening very soon. Ghosts has been a CBS staple since 2021, when it introduced the world to the Woodstone B&B and the ghostly occupants therein. Couple Sam and Jay Arondekar have always been at the staple of the story, with the various characters in Ghosts delivering a plethora of comedic or heartfelt storylines throughout the series' run. However, the show is about to undergo a major change with its forthcoming new season.
Seasons of Ghosts have always begun in the fall, airing through the spring alongside most other shows on CBS. However, Ghosts season 6 will have a different fate. In July 2026, CBS confirmed that Ghosts season 6 won't be returning with a proper series premiere until early 2027. While the show will maintain its 22-episode count that's been consistent since season 4, it will now begin during the midseason for the network instead of at the start like it has since the series began.
This major change means weekly episodes of Ghosts won't begin until 2027. However, that doesn't mean there won't be any content from the series prior to its official return. Instead, season 6 is set to begin much earlier, with two special episodes that serve as a transition from season 5 into the larger season 6 once it starts. The first of these two specials will be airing very soon, and will showcase what to anticipate from the larger forthcoming season.
Ghosts Season 6's Halloween Special Arrives Tomorrow, October 29
The first of these specials is "Halloween 6: The Mirror," which serves as the de facto season 6 premiere for the sitcom series. The two-episode special airs Thursday, October 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, marking the official return of the series in the process. It's also expected to follow up on a number of storylines from season 5, while being its own special episode. According to the description, a few months have passed following Pete's disappearance at the end of Ghosts season 5. The episode is expected to address what happened to him, and where he is now.
However, the main plot will follow Jay bringing home a mirror that, incidentally, is haunted by the spirit of Margaret, Hetty's sister with whom she was estranged before death. Not much else is known about the episode other than it will feel like both a special Halloween installment for viewers, and it will continue the story of season 5 properly in the process. It's also the first two-episode Halloween special of the sitcom, and the first time the show has had a two-episode premiere.
What To Expect From Ghosts: Halloween 6
Ghosts season 6's Halloween special is expected to continue the Pete storyline from season 5, while also telling a self-contained tale with Hetty at the center. This will be a major new storyline for her, giving her even more to work with as one of the core spotlight characters in the series. In addition, it's been confirmed that Kyle Rosenblatt, another person who can see Woodstone's ghosts, will be joining the cast full-time in season 6. The Halloween special will be his first appearance as a series regular, which will aid in shaking things up for the sitcom.
Question 1 of 3
"Halloween 6: The Mirror" is the first of two specials that will air before season 6 proper begins. The other special is a two-part Christmas special that will air on Thursday, December 10. However, the Ghosts Halloween special will be what dictates the image season 6 will convey of the show, giving it plenty of new and exciting developments not only within the confines of its core story, but also within the wider narrative of the sitcom as a whole.
