Neagley has officially broken a Reacher record.
The action thriller spinoff series has managed to break Reacher's four-year audience trend on Rotten Tomatoes as its latest score on the review platform arrives. Season 1 of the new show debuted with all episodes on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, giving audiences a new story with Reacher's most trusted ally at the center. Reviews for Neagley have been extremely positive, with the show currently holding a Certified Fresh critic score of 92%. However, when it comes to audience reactions, it's a very different story.
Now, Rotten Tomatoes reports that Neagley season 1 has earned the show a strong debut audience score. As of writing, the show sits at an 84% based on over 50 reviews. This puts it above Reacher season 2, but just below season 1. However, it also manages to break a major audience trend for the franchise. Since season 1, the audience score for every new season of the show has decreased, with season 4 currently sitting at 67%. However, the spinoff breaks this record by having a higher score as the fifth season in the Jack Reacher universe.
The show has managed to become a major contender on Prime Video, too, quickly rising to become the Number 2 most-watched TV show in the world during its first few days on streaming. It helps that audiences can judge the entire season all at once instead of just its first few episodes, allowing for their first impression to be one that's much greater than every season of Reacher thus far. The show's differences also allow it to stand on its own while comfortably positioning itself as a spinoff.
According to audience reviews, the show is straightforward, fast-paced, and has a strong group of core characters that help to strengthen each episode. The core mystery centers around Neagley learning what happened to a friend who died under mysterious circumstances, with his death seemingly tied to a location he was living at called Echo Canyon. As the show's core mysteries unravel, audiences learn more about Neagley, elements of larger lore in the Reacher universe, and, ultimately, are delivered a compelling new story in the franchise.
While there's no news yet on if the show will continue, Neagley is expected to last for multiple seasons. As for the larger action thriller universe it's part of, Reacher season 5 is currently filming. There's no word yet on if she'll be coming back to the main show, but both characters are expected to continue existing beside one another. It's clear audiences are very engaged with their solo adventures, too, since the spinoff has reached heights the original hasn't in many years.
With Neagley proving itself to audiences and clearly finding its footing on streaming, it seems like a strong first step for the Jack Reacher franchise's larger expansion on the small screen. The action-packed focus, dynamic characters, and original storyline help it to stand out from its parent show in multiple ways. It's also a good sign that, should the series get renewed, it'll have plenty of engaging story elements to focus on.
