Hollyoaks airs huge cliffhanger after tense Mercedes and Jenson scenes

Hollyoaks aired a huge cliffhanger in the storyline involving Mercedes McQueen and Jenson Cole, with the popular character traumatised as he got possessive following their latest fling.

The pair have been linked over the past few months, though their romance has often been stop-start due to the involvement of Warren Fox and Gemma Johnson. Though Mercedes's heart is likely with Warren, his affair with Gemma enraged her.

In last week's scenes, Mercedes had revenge on her mind, and slept with Warren's half-brother Jenson in a bid for payback. Though she stressed that it was purely an act of retaliation, Jenson had a different idea and wanted to build a future with her.

His idea of love, however, is far more possessive than is healthy, and ominously said that he never wanted to let her go. Following Monday's (19 October) flashback episode, the storyline continued tonight, with Mercedes being in a spot of bother.

Jenson asked a terrified Mercedes what future held for them, and she attempted to tell him the truth while also preserving her own safety. Sensing that the situation could turn even uglier, Mercedes lied and said she had fallen for Jenson.

Jenson confessed his love for her, and she tearfully returned the favour while keeping an ear out for Myra, who was listening to music outside of the room. She attempted to reach her, but Jenson grabbed her before she could move.

Fearing the worst, Mercedes suggested that they get a flight out of the country, but Jenson said that he wouldn't be letting her out of his sight. Mercedes then tried to attack him, but he was already one step ahead.

Theresa and Myra arrived to wish Mercedes a happy birthday, but they could see that she was visibly shaken. As Theresa threatened to call the police, Jenson rushed out and barged into her on the way.

Mercedes attempted to get on with her day, though Theresa called Warren in a bid for help. Mercedes eventually shared just how scared she was, with Myra urging her to go to both the police and the hospital.

Warren headed to the Loft, where Jenson was already waiting. He smugly taunted him, but by the time that Theresa arrived, Jenson was nowhere to be seen. With a bloodied Warren bearing some marks on his face, has he ended his rival in the most definite way?

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
