Slow Horses Season 7 Release Window On Apple TV Clarified By Star

EXCLUSIVE: Apple TV's Slow Horses is set to continue an impressive series-long release trend for season 7.
After originally premiering on Apple TV in April 2022, Slow Horses has managed to break recent streaming release trends to become an annual production. Whereas many hit TV shows today are seeing multi-year gaps between outings, Slow Horses debuted two seasons in 2022, followed by season 3 in 2023, season 4 in 2024, season 5 in 2025, and season 6 dropping in 2026. Following Slow Horses season 6's Apple TV premiere on September 16, the show already has season 7 well on the way.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for season 6's world premiere at TIFF, Slow Horses cast member Christopher Chung clarified when the next outing is being planned to release on Apple TV. According to Chung, who has portrayed Roddy Ho since the first season, the plan is for Slow Horses season 7 to premiere in 2027. While Apple TV has yet to officially announce the release window, this would continue the series' tradition of launching one new season every year:
ScreenRant: We know season 7 is on the way. Slow Horses so far has been an annual production. Are we hoping for a 2027 release?
Christopher Chung: "I think that's the plan. I think it's been pretty much like clockwork since season 3. So I think 2027 is a good bet for season 7."
Last year, Slow Horses star Gary Oldman revealed that season 7 would begin filming in October 2025, with the forthcoming installment reportedly having already wrapped production. Given filming is seemingly complete, Chung's estimate of Slow Horses season 7 releasing in 2027 looks incredibly likely.
Though the actor didn't give an exact month or window within 2027 for season 7's debut, all but the very first season of the show have premiered in the fall. As such, fall 2027 seems the most probable window for Slow Horses season 7's release, if not slightly earlier. The window will also likely depend on when Apple TV's other biggest TV shows are slated to return, as the streamer also has hit series like Silo, For All Mankind, Murderbot, Widow's Bay, and Pluribus gearing up for their next seasons.
While plot details for Slow Horses season 7 are still under wraps ahead of season 6's debut, the series has already confirmed another shakeup for the seventh outing. After creator Will Smith departed as showrunner following season 5, Gaby Chiappe took over as head writer for season 6, with Ben Vanstone then assuming the role for season 7.
Ahead of its Apple TV premiere, Slow Horses season 6's Rotten Tomatoes score stands at a perfect 100% rating, as aggregated from 11 reviews from critics. The early critical acclaim also bodes well for the upcoming season 7, as well as the potential for Slow Horses to receive a season 8 renewal and beyond. While Slow Horses season 8 has yet to be confirmed by Apple TV, Gary Oldman recently stated that he imagines the show will continue on as long as Apple TV is happy with the project and author Mick Herron continues releasing new books in his Slough House book series.
Slow Horses season 6 premieres on Apple TV on September 16, with new episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays.
